Focus: Learn about the PRINCIPLES, HISTORY, ARTISTRY, AND PRACTICALITY of the Celtic way of living as Christians. You’ll have an opportunity to draw Celtic knots, write Celtic working prayers, walk/pray a Celtic knot, and discover the Celtic roots in our holidays and traditions. “Celtic” refers to the Christianity born in the 5th and 6th centuries in what is now England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, as Christian practices and pagan rituals, with an emphasis on creation, met.
Our Leader: As Salem Presbytery's Hunger Action Advocate, Rev. Bryan McFarland staffs two task groups who collect & distribute Pennies for Hunger offering and helps congregations focus on issues of hunger & social justice. A graduate of Maryville College and Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, Bryan has served PCUSA congregations in Kentucky & Indiana and as campus minister at Maryville College, the University of Louisville, and the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Bryan is a retreat/workshop leader and performing songwriter in the initial stages of recording a new independent-release CD to add to his other CDs - “Way” (2004) and “All That Matters” (2007). The cost for this event, which includes 4 meals and overnight lodging (double-occupancy), is $80 for the first person from a particular church and $70 each for additional persons from the same church. To register, please complete the registration form and return it with payment no later than Thursday, February 4, 2010. There will be no refunds if you cancel after Monday, February 15.
