The Guys’ Weekend, the Presbytery of West Virginia’s annual retreat, is in its third year, and getting bigger and better every year. Last year, we had 40 men (including some youth) come and share in work and worship, and lots of laughter (a prime moment was the unbelievable accuracy of a beautifully launched water balloon). Earl and Burl, our special guests for the weekend, might have said, “That ain’t nothin’”, but we knew it was something.
The Guys’ Weekend 2011 promises to be a great weekend. The retreat, once again at Bluestone Camp & Retreat, will be May 13-15, 2011. This year’s speaker is Scott Berg, who serves as the WV State Director for Young Life. He is an ordained elder in the PC(USA), active at Summersville Presbyterian Church. Scott has a gift for bringing the Gospels to life – you’ll be encouraged in your faith, no matter how long you’ve been a follower of Jesus Christ.
One big change is for this year’s retreat is our “I Can’t Wait to Get Started” element. Men who’d like to come up early to get started on this year’s work projects can do so, at no extra cost other than Friday
dinner (which is available to anyone who’d like to come up early). Anyone interested in getting an early start on the weekend can indicate that on the registration form.
The Guys’ Weekend 2011 will feature a surprise guest, and plenty of great praise music, contests of brains and brawn, and lots of incredible food. This weekend is a great way to invigorate the men of your church in their lives of faith. You can download The Guys Weekend 2011 brochure / registration form here.
