Substance abuse affects so many families in West Virginia. Many lives are destroyed, families broken, spirits afflicted, and churches affected. Crossroads Recovery Home for Women in Gilbert, West Virginia is trying to alleviate some of the suffering and mend some afflicted spirits with the volunteer support of Gilbert Presbyterian Church. A member of the Church donated an office building and property to renovate a recovery home for women. Crossroads opened in July 2009 and has been full since September. Crossroads is a fellowship home that houses 8 women who have been through treatment. Crossroads staff provides 12 step and faith based programming, room and board, transportation and many other specific needs for the women who live there. Right now, Crossroads has 4 recovering women who are employed, three who are working on their GED, and one in vocational training.
