Presbytery's Youth Education and Service Trip to the Heifer Ranch in Perryville, Arkansas, for youth who are currently in grades 9-12 and adult advisors who must be at least 23 years of age. The dates for this trip are Saturday, July 19, when we will meet in Charleston to prepare for the trip, through Friday, July 25, when we will return. All participants must agree to be present by 8 pm on Saturday, July 19. Please note that program participants should be prepared for, and able to do, a lot of walking.
Heifer Ranch is one of Heifer International's three learning centers which provides learning opportunities and educational programs that teach participants more about world hunger and their role as global citizens. We will be participating in Heifer Ranch's Summer Action Program, which will include interactive learning, community building and work projects as participants connect with a community that is actively working to end hunger and poverty while caring for the earth. More information about the Heifer Program and the Summer Action program can be found at www.heifer.org. Click on the box that says, "learn" at the top middle of the page and go to "learning centers" and click on "Heifer Ranch", then "ranch programming", then "progressive programming" (at bottom of page) and then "summer action".
We have reserved 25 spaces for this event; 21 for youth and 4 for adults (3 other than myself). The cost per person is $435 for youth and $100 for adults, which includes lodging, transportation by bus, housing, and meals at the Ranch. Participants will also need money for lunch and dinner on the trip out, and the same on the trip home.
Enclosed you will find the following pages:
- a flyer that can be copied and posted where your youth will see it
- a colored flyer from the Heifer website with more information
- a registration form for youth
- a copy of the Medical Information and Waiver form that must be signed before going

The registration deadline for this event is March 1, 2008. However, I would encourage you to have youth register early as we only have the 21 youth spaces.
