The women of Teays Valley Presbyterian Church in Scott Depot will host their first women’s conference, “SEED, A Place for Faith to Grow,” April 20-21. It is an opportunity for women of all faiths to come together in fellowship and worship, with time to grow their spiritual health. The event begins at 7 p.m. Friday, ending that night with music and prayer at 9 p.m.; then, on Saturday, it will continue from 9 a.m. to noon.

Speakers include Jennifer Hand of Cleveland, TN, who is the executive director of Coming Alive Ministries and has a desire to provide women of all ages an invitation to come alive in Christ. She is the author of several books and speaks nationally and internationally about her love for Christ. She has conducted mission work across the US and in 22 countries.

Conference coordinator Laura Boggess, author of Playdates with God: Having a Childlike Faith in a Grown-Up World, will also speak. Laura says she is still learning to come to God like a little child. She lives in Hurricane with her husband, Jeff, and writes letters to her two sons at college.

Leading worship through praise and song will be Elizabeth Yeager Cross. Wife to Brett and mother to two beautiful children, Liz owns Yeager Design and Interiors, an interior design firm in Scott Depot. She has been singing for the Lord her entire life and loves nothing more than feeling the spirit during praise and worship.

Conference hostess Chris Key knows all about planting seeds. As the wife of Rev. Dr. Kyle Key, pastor of Teays Valley Presbyterian Church, she’s been his partner in ministry for 36 years. She has been active in women’s, children’s, and couple’s ministry, as well as most any other role that needed filling in the ministry of the church. Chris is the mother of three adult children. Her love for Christ is contagious and evident in all she does.

Tickets for the conference are available here. They are $20 in advance and $30 at the door, which covers both sessions, including refreshments by Sweet B’s Pies and Treats. You can also pre-register by mail using the brochure here.

The first 150 registrants will receive a goodie bag filled with special, fun items from Dayspring, ViBella Jewelry and many local businesses. ViBella Jewelry, made by women in impoverished countries, will also be for sale, as will t-shirts designed by Winfield’s Roy Kuhl Sports featuring the conference logo created by Hurricane’s Rock Paper Sisters.
